Step One: WATER
Event Information
Description
Merry Go Strong, in collaboration with Dr Jasmine Zapata and Mike Ford, The Hip-Hop Architect (The Hip Hop Architecture Camp) is raising money to fund a water source for the Samburu Girls Foundation (SGF) in Kenya! The foundation rescues girls as young as six from child marriage, Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and Beading (a form of non-consensual sex). They have rescued over 1000 girls and are currently sponsoring 321 girls through school.
SGF has been gifted fifteen acres of land from the community to build a safe place for the girls to live. With the land secured, water is the first step towards building a safe, secure, and restorative environment for the girls and the staff at SGF.
Enjoy a night full of inspiration, lively performances, and help make a major impact! Josephine Kulea, founder of the SGF, will share these girls’ powerful stories and talk about her dream of irradicating child marriage and other retrogressive practices in Samburu.
