The Walk/Run on Sept. 16 was canceled due to Hurricane Recovery, but has been Re-scheduled to October 28, 8am in Dr. Sylvester Hankings Park, Orlando.
The Multi-Cultural Addictions Network, Inc. in partnership with the Orange County Drug Free Coalition, invite you to join us in a joyous celebration of recovery at the Annual Recovery Walk/Run Community Event on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Dr. Sylvester Hankings Park, Orlando. The event celebrates those individuals in long-term recovery from substance abuse and other drug dependencies. We warmly encourage individuals, families, faith-based organization, public health professionals and friends to walk, run and celebrate this momentous achievement of life recovery and expect to be lifted with inspirational speakers, entertainment, music , community resources and prizes. There will also be a kid zone with arts and crafts for the little ones. We will gather at 7:30am at Hankins Park (Columbia St. & John Young Parkway) the run will begin at 8:00am and the walk will begin at 8:30am.
National Recovery Month promotes the societal benefits of prevention, treatment, and recovery for mental and substance use disorders, celebrates people in recovery, lauds the contributions of treatment and service providers, and promotes the message that recovery in all its forms is possible. Recovery Month spreads the positive message that behavioral health is essential to overall health, that prevention works, treatment is effective and people can and do recover.
All participants will receive morning refreshments, and a t-shirt while supplies last. The event is free and open to the public. Parking is free.
