Step by Step Walk, Run and Roll 2013
Helping raise awareness is a walk in the park
In running shoes, on scooters, wheelchairs and strollers, hundreds of local residents will join in Step by Step, Walk and Run and Roll on Sept. 7. This exciting annual event is designed for anyone and everyone who wants to help raise awareness for families navigating special education and health care systems to care for a child or family member with exceptionalities/special needs.
Families Together, Inc. will host the Step by Step, Walk, Run and Roll on Saturday, Sept. 7 at scenic Sedgwick County Park. Families Together encourages, educates and empowers thousands of families with special needs children and helps guide them through the often confusing and complicated special education and health care systems in Kansas.
Connie Zienkewicz, executive director of Families Together, says “This year’s event will be very inspiring. We have two new teams, Super Star Siblings and Distinguished Dads. Both teams are family members of a loved one with an exceptionality ranging from Autism and Cerebral Palsy to learning disabilities.” Activities will feature a friendly 5K and 10K course (will assist runners training for the Prairie Fire Half Marathon in Oct.), a Family Fun course, a side walk chalk contest, penny in a hay stack, and lots more.
