STEM Speaker Series presents

Your Unique Microbiome: Its effect on health and disease

Jack A. Gilbert, Ph.D.
Professor, Department of Surgery, University of Chicago,

Group Leader for Microbial Ecology, Argonne National Laboratory,

MBL Fellow, Marine Biological Laboratory

Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2:30 p.m.
Room 1610, streaming live in Skokie Room C240

Everyone has unique colonies of microbes that live on and inside their bodies—called microbiomes. Today, evidence suggests that the interactions between microbiomes, immune systems, and prescribed drugs can play a substantial role in health and disease. Microbiomes are even being examined to diagnose certain diseases. What’s even more remarkable is that doctors are now applying microbiomes to precision medicines, using them like a drug to transform health care.
