Event description
Please join us for our 2019 Professional Learning Series, which will combine a Practitioners' Workshop with STEM Industry Experiences.

About this Event

We all care about preparing our students for the future. Connecting the curriculum to real-world applications and opportunities in industry is critical to this goal. If you are involved as an educator that serves youth or in the classroom, the Finger Lakes STEM Hub invites you to participate in this multi-day Professional Learning Series focused on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).

In Part One, participate in one or more Industry Experiences to help you connect the newest standards and lessons to real-world applications. You will gain an understanding of how engineering design principles are used every day by people in STEM fields. Learn about the skills and training students need to be successful in these high-demand careers, and find out about the available opportunities for your students.

In Part Two, take part in a Practitioners’ Workshop to learn how to connect what you learned in your Industry Experience to your curriculum and learning environment. Hands-on sessions will be presented by STEM and Industry professionals in areas such as fostering STEM learning through play, science and engineering practices, different approaches to learning STEM, and phenomenon-based STEM education.

The STEM Learning Series is open to all educators: Youth Leaders, Out-of-School Time Educators, Teachers, Student Teachers, Administrators, and Counselors in both public and private schools.

Since this is a two-part series, please remember to register for both the Practitioners' Workshop and one (or more) Industry Experiences. Each Industry Experience is limited to 12 participants.

For a full description of this event, please see our program listing on the Finger Lakes STEM Hub Website.
