Description
Introducing STEM++ Philadelphia
An interactive introduction to the STEM++ project
STEM++ believes that new approaches to STEM can radically increase the number of underrepresented students and girls who succeed along STEM pathways from preK through college. Improving the “who” of STEM goes hand-in-hand with improving the “how” and “why” and "to what end" — transforming STEM education through empathy, changemaking, entrepreneurship and creativity.
STEM++ takes an ecosystem approach — the goal of STEM++ is to create a healthier STEM ecosystem for all students and their allies, and to create and expand opportunities for the many researchers, nonprofits, schools, and others that support this goal.
In this workshop, you’ll learn more about the STEM++ work, our beginnings in the San Francisco Bay Area, our national conferences, and our work developing resources and opportunities for the STEM ecosystem.
You’ll understand why STEM and empathy belong together, and how they connect. You’ll see STEM not only in combination with arts and creativity (STEAM); but also entrepreneurship and changemaking. And you’ll connect to new resources, and build relationships with others from across the STEM and education ecosystem.
