Description

Book your place now!

Book your place at our one-day training in Sligo now! More dates and locations around Ireland to follow soon.

What will you learn?

During the one-day training you will undertake a range of STEM and Maker activities yourself and gain the skills and knowledge you’ll need to facilitate high-quality STEM learning experiences with young people. You will: learn how to solder; use a Makey Makey to turn an everyday object, such as a bunch of flowers, into a computer keyboard; make simple circuits, scribble bots, and your own speakers.

What other support will you get?

Following the one-day training, you’ll receive a grant to buy the equipment you'll need to facilitate STEM and Maker activities for your young people. So that you can continue to develop your STEM in Youth Work expertise, through TechSpace, you will also have access to follow-up support, resources, an online community of practice and much, much more. The young people you work with will have the opportunity to showcase their creations at regional and national events, including the amazing annual Creative Tech Fest.

How much?

This training and support package is heavily subsidised at a cost of €100 per person. Depending on the size of the group coming from your organisation, you will receive an equipment grant worth between €55 and €100.

Is there anything else you should know?

This is a partnership project between the National Youth Council of Ireland (lead partner) and Camara Education Ireland (delivery partner). The project is delivered through the TechSpace Programme. The National Youth Council of Ireland will share your information with our project partner, Camara Education Ireland. By booking a ticket you are agreeing to this and to the National Youth Council of Ireland’s booking terms & conditions.

Spaces are limited and will go to youth sector organisations first. If you are not from a youth sector organisation, please get in touch anyway by completing this form.

This project is funded by the Science Foundation of Ireland’s Discover Programme with additional funding from ESB and Inver.

This project is supported locally by North Connaught Youth Services.
