Description of workshop:
This interactive workshop is designed for ASL Interpreters to strengthen their science knoweldge of signs in their interpretations. Through guided intruction, pratice activities and discussion, participants will explore essential STEM (with focus on science) vocabulary, practice real world interpreting scenarios and develop strategies to clearly communicate scientific concepts to Deaf students and professionals in the field.
Lunch will be provided. Email any food sensitivities to geninterprets@gmail.com or fill out on registration form so we may plan accordingly. *0.5 PS CEU's pending approval
About Kayla:
Kayla Cureaux earned her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Louisiana State University, where she developed a strong foundation in scientific research and laboratory techniques. She has worked professionally as a radiochemist, applying analytical expertise in high-precision environments. Kayla also brings a deep passion for education, having served as a classroom support staff member, substitute teacher, and STEM tutor, helping students explore and excel in science. Her mission is to spark curiosity and make STEM accessible for all learners.
