Event description

Description

The UDWR has a bluegill salvage event planned for June 7, 8, and 10 at Steinaker Reservoir in Northeastern Utah. We are looking for volunteers, both with boats and shore anglers, to assist biologists by catching and keeping bluegill for a transplant. DWR biologists will collect all sizes of bluegill from anglers each day.

The BOR dam repair project at Steinaker Reservoir will take place fall 2018, so salvage of fish is necessary before the reservoir reaches dead pool. Currently, there is no daily bag limit for any species.

All anglers must possess a valid fishing license to participate. You must provide your own equipment and follow all state boating regulation laws.

Volunteers can receive service hours for the dedicated hunter program.

Due to decreasing water levels, we prefer anglers that are able to fish from watercraft (float tubes, kayaks, boats, etc.)

Reminders:

  • Fish cannot be turned in later than 1:30 PM on June 7 and 8 in order to be processed for transportation.
  • Fish cannot be turned in later than 12:00 PM on June 10 in order to be processed for transportation.
  • Please hand over any bass that you collect during the event — we're salvaging those too.
