STEELY DAN Revue KING OF THE WORLD Performing STEELY DAN's Greatest Hits
Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 8:00 PM - Friday, January 10, 2014 at 12:00 AM (EST)
New York, United States
King of the World was formed in January 2011 by a group of longtime friends....guys that grew up on this music and love it at a deep level. For KOTW, Steely Dan is the other level; a voodoo cocktail of cool....sort of the mutant offspring of Rock and Jazz. If Mingus or Ellington had a Rock & Roll band, this is what it might sound like. While KOTW revere the music of Fagan, Becker & Co., they don't take themselves or the whole endeavor too seriously. Steely Dan was celebrated for some of the most musical, pristine recordings ever committed to tape but KOTW make no unwarranted claim to any such lofty sonic ideals. Faithful to the original but happy to put a little stank on things, come to a show and find out: King of the World get down.
When & Where
B.B. King Blues Club
Conveniently located in the heart of Times Square near Penn Station and Port Authority, B.B. King Blues Club & Grill offers music fans a unique experience. Owned by the Bensusan Family, proprietors of the world renowned Blue Note Jazz Club, the club features world-class musical talent and consists of two distinct spaces: the Showcase Room & Lucille’s Grill.
The breathtaking main space is classical in form and spirit: two-tiered, horseshoe-shaped seating (booths & tables) centered around a 30-foot stage presents up close and personal views of all performances. The 40-foot bar is a haven for the reserved listener. The atmosphere is enhanced with two 8-foot big video screens on either side of the stage.
