Event description

VOMA (Venue Of Merging Arts)* NEEDS A ROOF REPAIR ... and we need your help.

Last Fall we had a significant leak in the roof and water was trickling down the walls of the gallery. We patched it but the roof shingles are dry-rotted; they need stripped off and replaced or it is likely to re-occur. Because of the size of the roof and labor involved it will cost approximately $9,000 - $10,000 for this necessary repair.

This is significantly more than we have saved up. So we are asking all of you - the fans of our organization - to please chip in and help us ... And we made a game out of it!

For every $5 you are able to donate, we will write your name on a numbered ticket and whoever has the matching number to the Pennsylvania Daily Lottery on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 24th, will win four (4) tickets to the January 1st game in Pittsburgh. We are including to the winner fifty ($50) dollars in cash to cover the winners related cost of going to the game, such as parking and fuel, however, the winner can use the $50 however they choose.

Nov. 24th, is the day before the biggest Christmas shopping day of the year. With four tickets for the New Year’s Day game on Jan. 1st, the winner can treat their family or a few relatives or friends to a Pittsburgh Steeler game in lieu of the usual Christmas present.

But not only is the chance to win Steeler tickets for four AND $50 cash for a five dollar chance a good deal, more importantly, it gets us half way to our 9k goal AND benefits a pretty great place... if we do say so ourselves.

If you are not interested in a chance to win as a thank you gift for your contribution, and would like instead to make a tax-deductible donation; checks can be made payable to VOMA and mailed to 307 Chestnut Street, Johnstown, PA 15906, or alternatively, to the "VOMA Accelerator Fund" at the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies, 116 Market Street, Suite 4, Johnstown, PA 15901.

Any and all help to raise the funds needed for this project is greatly appreciated and donors can take pride in knowing that they are helping to maintain a historic property that has been re-purposed to once again benefit the community.

*The mission of VOMA is to rescue (and maintain) a historically significant former church building by transforming it into a unique venue in which various forms of artistic expression can merge together to promote, educate, entertain and involve the community in the arts. Since its inception in 2009, VOMA has operated as an all-volunteer organization and has hosted a wide variety of events and activities for the community including: hosting the Children’s Corner activities during Thunder-in-the-Valley, providing free entertainment on the Third Avenue Stage during the Cambria City Ethnic Festival, hosting a wide variety of music events with local, regional, national and even international performers, art classes and bi-monthly art social events, free rotating gallery exhibits (open Friday’s 11am– 2pm and during all music events), theater performances, book signings, yoga classes and other special events.

If you haven’t been to VOMA, please check out our website calendar of events @ where you can find something for everyone.
