What is STEAMDojo?

STEAMDojo is a fun yet educational program for children in Kindergarten through grade 12 - that is all about the STEAM subjects: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art + Design and Math.

We emphasize on art with our STEM curriculum as art makes everything fun. When complex learning is combined with art, it helps children grasp concepts, learn better and think creatively!

  

Workshop Overview 

Science + Art Workshop: LED Cube & Movie-Making Workshop

December 8, 2013, 10 am - 12 pm & 1 pm - 3 pm

Enroll your children for one or both of these workshops to kick off the holiday learning and cheer. You can choose from two different 2-hour sessions, or even opt for both!


Session 1: Glowing LED Cube Holiday Ornament Workshop (10AM-12PM)

This 2-hour innovative workshop is all about art + science with LEDs. Your children will not stop raving about creating glowing LED cubes! They will build their own unique holiday tree ornaments with LED cubes while learning the science behind them.

Focus on: Science, curiosity, hands-on building, creativity, team and collaborative play

What will your child learn -

  • What are LEDs and batteries
  • How do they work
  • How to create LED cubes
  • How to combine LED cubes into everything imaginable – like beautiful holiday decorations or custom characters.

Your child will also engage in collaborative activities that will help with social skills and team problem solving.

Children attending will participate in one of two age groups: (a) 5-7 yrs old or (b) 8-10 years old.

PS: Do not forget to bring a bag to take home the beautiful ornament your child makes!

 

Session 2: iPad Stop Motion Movie Workshop (1PM-3PM)

Are you ready for some love? You will get some serious props as a parent or caregiver after your child completes this 2-hour workshop on creating stop-motion videos!

Your child loves his or her iPad - how about they learn to make their own stop-motion movie on it. Let your young director call the shots and get her creative juices running with this workshop.

Focus on: Science, visual aids, product building on iPad, storytelling, creativity, team and collaborative play

What will your child learn-

  • What is a stop-motion movie and the visual science behind it
  • How to create stop motion movies
  • How to design and create movie stories and scripts

Your child will also engage in collaborative activities that will help with social skills and team problem solving.

Children attending will participate in one of two age groups: (a) 5-7 yrs old or (b) 8-10 years old.
