STEAM School is a program for preschoolers ages three and up, who are curious about Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math and who would like to pursue challenges beyond the preschool curriculum. Class time will be organized around a theme in order to structure and connect learning concepts for students. Each week, children will both operate independently and collaboratively on math, technology, science, engineering and art projects. Each section of STEAM School will meet one hour a week, in eight-week sessions during the school year, and weekly drop-in workshops in the summer. During sessions, parents will not be asked to stay, but can remain for their child's comfort if necessary.
The Winter Session of STEAM School begins Wednesday, January 11th at 9:00 and the last class is Wednesday, March 8th. We will meet from 9:00-10:00 each week. We will not meet Wednesday, February 22nd as many families will be away for School Break. The theme of our Winter Session will be Transportation! We will investigate concepts in the STEAM content areas using a different vehicle each week. Here's the series of classes:
- Cars and Trucks
- Planes and Helicopters
- Space Craft
At STEAM School, children will be encouraged to:
- Dig deeper
- Problem solve
- Share their thinking
- Authentically engage with the world around them
- Think critically about what they see
STEAM School is a great opportunity to engage young learners in a love of STEAM-related subjects when they are most open to developing and maintaining enthusiasm for science, technology, engineering, art and math.
