STEAM POETRY: UNDERSTANDING SCIENCE THROUGH METAPHOR
Presented by: The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts
Led by Mimi Herman, writer and teaching artist from North Carolina
From tiny atoms to vast galaxies, scientists try to explain things that cannot be seen. How can we help students make the invisible understandable? In this unique workshop, learn strategies to guide students in creating metaphors that make the unseen scientific phenomenon visible and help them extend their metaphors into poetry that demonstrates understanding of the science content.
