Description

The International Center for Journalists will host “Steal My Tool” on Friday, June 17, from 12:30 to 2:30 pm. At Steal My Tool we’ll have 5-minute lightning talks showcasing the latest investigative digital and data journalism tools and projects of news innovators at the IRE Conference in New Orleans. Our hope is that you will see something helpful or inspirational for your work that you can take back to your newsroom. And we hope you’ll engage with the people behind the tools and projects to learn more and perhaps spark interesting collaborations.

This will be an intimate gathering of about 25 people to keep the group size manageable and interactive. It fits nicely with the lunch slot at the IRE Conference. *Lunch, soft drinks and a ticket for one bar drink (draft beer, house wine or well liquor) will be provided!*

If you would like to attend, please register by June 3 (please only register if you are certain you will come).

If you would like to present, please register and contact Ben Colmery, the director of the ICFJ Knight Fellowships, at bcolmery@icfj.org, and let him know which tool or project you would like to present and include a brief pitch.

It’s going to be a fun way to take in lunch, and a nice break from the panels and training sessions at the conference. We hope you can make it!

(Note: You must be a speaker or attendee of the 2016 IRE Conference to attend Steal My Tool. If neither of these apply to you, but you would like to attend Steal My Tool, please contact Ben Colmery.)
