STEADY BEAT BOOKS: A JOYFUL APPROACH TO READING COMPREHENSIONS
Presented by: The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts
Led by Deborah Sunya Moore, percussionist and arts educator from New York
One of the simplest aspects of music—steady beat—is the driving force behind what makes literature for young children so appealing. In this workshop, learn ways to engage your whole class in the musicality of reading by finding the steady beat and locating opportunities for chants. You’ll enjoy seeing how these musical read-alouds help students develop their oral fluency and reading comprehension. No previous musical experience required.
