STC-PSC February Chapter Meeting: Positioning UA within UX with Joe Welinsk...
Event Information
Description
In our February 20th chapter meeting, Joe Welinske will give us the answers to all the questions we've ever wanted to know about how to move into a UA or UX career.
Joe, who is moderator of the sixth annual UX Conference, will tell us the difference between the two, which skills are movable into UX, how you can rebrand your skills to seek a career in this field, and much more. He will also be telling us about the upcoming sixth annual conference, and in partnership with us, will be offering us a very special registration price to attend.
This session provides a brief overview of the world of User Experience, describes the areas where user assistance plays an important role, and offers a discussion of what that means for today’s UA professionals as we move forward.
Even if you aren’t involved in user assistance or have a desire to be a UXer, you should come away with some nuggets about emerging values and skills.
You will learn:
- How the field of User Experience defines itself and its status in software development
- How technical communication is viewed from the point of view of the UX field
- What UA professionals can do to best develop their skills and market themselves within the UX field
