STC-PSC Chapter Meeting: Disrupting User Education
STC-PSC continues to provide technical communicators with learning opportunities that help you succeed in your careers. Join us for our chapter meeting, where Bob Boiko, a professional recognized worldwise as a leader in the field of content management, will illustrate the next generation of educational systems and discuss their impact on you.
Education has come to mean schools, classes, books, teachers, homework and exams. The first generation of learning management systems simply reproduced these old ideas of school online. But with the convergence of mobile, social media, big data and advanced learning techniques like gamification, flipping, scaffolding and automated evaluation, education is on the verge of the same kind of disruption that has occurred in every other information industry.
In this talk, Bob will talk about what is essential and what is not in the existing ideas of education. He will point out the factors that are disrupting education and show you how they apply particularly to user education. The speaker will discuss how you might use these same techniques to increase the ways at your disposal to educate your users.
Be sure to register for the meeting by February 21. Should you have any questions, please contact the meeting organizer at firstname.lastname@example.org.
