STC Orlando Central Florida Chapter Meeting - April 17, 2014
Thursday, April 17, 2014 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM (EDT)
This month's talk is titled Collaboration Through Conflict, and it being presented by Mark Kilby.
Building agile teams can sometimes feel like moving mountains or at least building bridges between mountains. When the team starts "storming" to high performance, different types of conflict arise. This can lead to heated debates, dysfunction, and collaboration collapsing. This talk will explore different types of conflict on teams and some ways you can prepare and navigate the conflict successfully.
Since 1990, Mark Kilby has guided individuals, teams and organizations to develop unique software and system solutions for government, industry and academia. His roles have included software developer, technical lead, rocket scientist, principal investigator, technical architect, web development manager, methodologist, scrum master, product owner and agile coach (since 2003). His experience spans complete software development lifecycles for a variety of industries including consumer services, publishing, telecommunications, security, finance, military and space. He currently focuses on leadership rejuvenation, growing effective distributed learning organizations, coaching coaches and serving servant leaders.

When & Where
STC Orlando Central Florida Chapter
The Society for Technical Communication (stc.org), is a professional organization that “advances the theory and practice of technical communication across all user abilities and media so that both businesses and customers benefit from safe, appropriate, and effective use of products, information, and services.”
Here in Central Florida, we provide programs of interest and value to local practitioners—experienced and novice—to promote best practices, facilitate networking, and provide educational resources within our group and in the wider worlds of business and education. Our close ties to the University of Central Florida have nourished student-to-professional transitions and enabled our members and visitors to benefit from knowledge in both the theory and practice arenas.
Orlando Central Florida STC Chapter meets most months on the third Thursday. Our schedules are posted elsewhere on this site, and the current month’s offering is highlighted on this page. We urge you to give us a try—first meeting is free—and see whether membership is for you. We welcome all visitors.
Please join us: check out our programs and let us know what you think. We are always interested in hearing how we can improve what we offer. Please write to (firstname.lastname@example.org) with comments, feedback, and suggestions. And we hope to welcome you in person at our meetings.
