Event description

Description

Explore the sky with the Bell Museum. We host free telescope observing nights monthly during the University's fall and spring semesters. The event is informal and family-friendly.

Free admission, $5 donation suggested.

Graphic of the outline of Minnesota with stars, constellations, and a telescope icon inside.

This month's event is even more special--as a continuation of the museum’s yearlong celebration of the Apollo 50th anniversary, the theme of this event is “Moon & Beyond.” The Bell is also proud to be partnering with communities across Minnesota to host the first ever Statewide Star Party! Events are taking place November 8-11, visit our website for details: bellmuseum.umn.edu/statewide-starparty.

Planetarium

Shows start at 7:30 & 8 pm

Start the night inside the Whitney and Elizabeth MacMillan Planetarium for a brief presentation of Fall Sky Tonight, with special Transit of Mercury content.

Telescopes

The evening continues outside with telescopes on the Ruth & John Huss Observation Deck. Our astronomy team will guide you through observations of the same celestial objects that have inspired sky-gazers throughout history!

Remember to dress for the weather! The event takes place rain or shine. In the case of extreme or poor weather, indoor activities will be planned in place of telescope observing.

Note: Bell Museum galleries are not open during Star Parties.
