This mandatory training is designed for North Carolina Substance Use Prevention Block Grant Programs.

About this Event

Block Grant Assessment Training #2 is the second of a two-part series to assist providers in completing their 2020 Prevention Assessment Requirements. This session takes place in Raleigh. The same event is taking place in Winston Salem on a different date. Both days of content are the same.

Event Audience

This mandatory training is designed for North Carolina Substance Use Prevention Block Grant Programs. The event will help to support program managers and staff in their efforts to begin a formal needs assessment process in their communities.

Skill Level

The event is intended to serve the professional needs of moderate and/or advanced professionals or anyone interested in improving their ability to better manage community-based prevention efforts.

Lunch is on your own, while snacks will be provided. The temperature in the training center may vary, dress appropriately.

Accommodations

A state rate room block will be available for the night of April 20, 2020. Please indicate your need on the registration form. Programs will be responsible for their own lodging costs.

Facilitator Information

Dr. William Geary, Ph.D. is the founder of Global Evaluation Solutions and has 20 successful years of evaluation, organizational consulting, and community-level prevention experience. He works with local public and private prevention and treatment service delivery organizations, state level prevention agencies/organizations, and a variety of community-based health and violence prevention initiatives all over the country. Dr. Geary’s previous experience includes Deputy Director of Evaluation and Research at the National Coalition Institute, a Master Trainer with the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America, a trainer and consultant for Communities That Care, and a coalition coordinator for both suburban and urban prevention initiatives. He is also an experienced grant reviewer for the National Institute of Justice, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, and the Office of Minority Health. Dr. Geary is a visiting Assistant Professor of Sociology & Criminal Justice at La Salle University in Philadelphia, PA. He lives in Doylestown, PA.

An application for continuing education credit has been submitted to the NCSAPPB.
