Evita Bezuidenhout is still hailed as the most famous white woman in South Africa. After a few lifetimes in the whirlpools of local politics, she has swung from separate developist to designer democrat. Now a member of the ruling African National Congress, Mrs Bezuidenhout is in the kitchen of Luthuli House where she cooks for reconciliation.
She is also the patron and inspiration behind The Darling Trust and as such will be in London on Monday 8 May 2017 to put the entire picture clearly - and that is where South Africa is today, where Great Britain was yesterday and where the European Union will be in the future without the UK.
With humour and optimism she will enmesh the politics of the world with the news from the rainbow nation that seems to have misplaced its bright colours behind a blur of black and white confusions. Evita Bezuidenhout will prove that it still is possible to fall in love with South Africa and invite those in London who long for the magic of that place to come and sample a taste of Darling.
