Event description
Let's talk about POVERTY.

About this Event

By many measures, #Columbus is doing increasingly well. Unemployment is low, development is booming in parts of the city, and the population is growing at one of the fastest rates in the country, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Unfortunately, that success is not felt by #all. With stagnant economic mobility showing little signs of improving, many Columbus residents have little to no financial stability — even for those technically living above the federal poverty threshold, which for a family of four means annual income of $25,100. To date, the Census Bureau counts 205,000 Franklin County residents living below the federal poverty level and 407,000 living below 200 percent of the federal poverty level.

Join the Columbus African Council and other community partners for a conversation on the state of poverty across the African Diaspora and how as individuals and community leaders, can set a course for a more prosperous future throughout the African Diaspora in Columbus.
