The State of Innovation (SOI) is our annual pillar event focused on the people, businesses, trends, and topics that are shaping the city's tech community and economy. This year, we'll be hosting several niche meetups leading up to the big May event that are designed to spotlight an individual category or company.
For our first one, we'll be exploring the intersection of music and tech and talking with the local startups, businesses, and entrepreneurs that are helping position Chicago as a leader in music innovation.
"Headlining" this meetup will be a fireside chat with Jaime Black, a professor of entrepreneurship at Columbia College Chicago and the host of Dynasty Podcast, the city's longest-running music podcast. (It celebrated its 10-year anniversary last year!) We'll be talking to Jaime about the ins-and-outs of podcasting, including tips and tricks on how to launch and run one, as well as the city's music scene, its tech scene, and, most importantly, its music tech scene.
Prior to the conversation with Jaime, we'll run a Startup Showcase, featuring presentations, pitches, and demos from some of Chicago's most exciting companies that are navigating the space. (We'll be announcing participating startups ASAP).
The meetup is on Tuesday, the 26th from 6PM - 8.30PM. It will be held at General Assembly @ After-Words Books (23 E. Illinois St.) - right next to the Jazz Record Mart, a Chicago music institution - and we will have light bites and beverages available. Space is limited so grab your tickets below today!
