Event description
The Center will release its latest research report, "State of Ethnic Media in New Jersey," and hold a discussion about the findings.

About this Event

Ethnic and community media are a critical, yet poorly understood, part of the news and information ecosystem. The Center for Cooperative Media at Montclair State University has been studying this sector of the media industry for the last several months and will release its report "State of Ethnic Media" on June 3.

Join us that day for lunch and a presentation about the report by authors Dr. Sarah Stonbely, Ph.D., the research director of the Center for Cooperative Media, and Anthony Advincula, a New York City-based journalist, media consultant and former national media director for New America Media. The presentation will be followed by a roundtable discussion about the report's findings and recommendations.

This event is free thanks to operational support for the Center from the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation.

Through a combination of database work, interviews, and surveys, this report provides a comprehensive list of ethnic and community media serving New Jersey, transmits thoughts from publishers and established reporters about contemporary struggles and triumphs at these outlets, and documents the transition to digital, as well as their outlooks for the year ahead.
