A Campfire Session hosted by Startups Magazine and Buzzbar, designed to champion women in tech and female founders.

About this Event

Join an empowered and engaged community of startups, women in tech and female founders as Startups Magazine and Buzzbar host a joint Campfire Session, kicking off with two inspirational speakers before opening up the discussion to the room.

What can you expect?

Attendees can anticipate a friendly drinks reception as they arrive with a thought-provoker exercise to get your brains whirring. Two inspirational women will share their stories with the group of their experiences in the tech and startup industry before the Campfire Session gets underway and all attendees are invited to get involved in an animated discussion, sharing both their experiences and learnings from their perspective within the industry.

6.45pm: Welcome to our campfire session

7pm: Hear from 2 inspirational women (TBA)

7.45-8.15pm: Campfire Session: we invite attendees to participate in a communal chat with the group, sharing experiences and learnings with others. Focus and topics led by speakers.

8.15-9pm: Relaxed networking: get your business cards handy and get ready to make valuable connections

Hosts

Anna Downey CEO and Founder of Buzzbar. From farming mangoes to setting up Buzzbar, London's first walk-in media and marketing service, Anna’s spends her time helping everyone from start-ups to big brands reach their potential, because she knows first-hand how scary it is to start your own business, and that being a successful entrepreneur is about knowing when to take the reigns and when to delegate.

Daisy is the Editor and Founder of Startups Magazine, first inspired by hearing the origin stories of tech entrepreneurs at a showcase in London, she made it her personal quest to shine a light on the bravery of startups. Pawternal mother to two dogs, when she's not working on the next issue of Startups Magazine, you'll find her playing with her dogs or rewatching her favourite film for the seven-hundredth time.

Speakers

Vanessa Vallely is one of the UK’s most well-networked women and has provided keynotes on a variety of career related topics for over 500 companies worldwide. Vanessa is also one of the UK’s most prominent figures in gender equality and often provides guidance and consultancy to both government and corporate organisations who are seeking to attract, develop and retain their female talent. Vanessa was awarded her OBE in June 2018 for her services to women and the economy.

At the height of her successful 25 year career in the financial services, Vanessa launched the award winning WeAreTheCity.com in 2008 as a vehicle to help women progress in their careers. WeAreTheCity.com now has over 120,000 members and provides resources/conferences/awards/jobs to women across the UK. Vanessa is the also the - founder of UK wide diversity forum Gender Networks. Gender Networks (formerly The Network of Networks) brings together diversity leaders from 85 cross sector firms to share best practice on a quarterly basis.

Vanessa is also the author of the book “Heels of Steel: Surviving and Thriving in the Corporate World” which tracks her career and shares 13 chapters of tips to succeed in the workplace.
