Event Details

What is NEXT LA?

NEXT is an intensive, 5-week pre-accelerator program that combines the forces of Steve Blank (author of Four Steps to the Epiphany and The Startup Owner's Manual), Startup Weekend, Udacity, Techstars, Startup America, and local leaders in the LA startup community to offer you some of the world's most effective entrepreneurial education.

Why Should you attend a NEXT: Customer Discovery program?

  1. You will be taught the what, how, and why of the customer development process
  2. You will learn the importance of a "Minimum Viable Product" and how it applies to your company
  3. You'll learn how to pitch to potential customers and investors, and we will prepare you to interview at least 50 prospective customers over the 5 weeks in a collaborative environment through workshops, presentations and peer reviews.
  4. Each entrepreneur will be paired with Coaches and Mentors to receive critical feedback designed to test and probe their assumptions every step of the way
  5. You will be part of a powerful support network of mentors and other NEXT attendees from over 25 cities around the world
  6. Register as an individual, or invite someone you're thinking of working with and register as a team

Startup Weekend

Startup Weekend is a global grassroots movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures. It is the largest community of passionate entrepreneurs with over a thousand past events in 110+ countries around the world.

The non-profit organization is located in Seattle, Washington but Startup Weekend organizers and facilitators can be found in cities around the world. From Mongolia to South Africa to London to Brazil, people around the globe are coming together for weekend long workshops to pitch ideas, form teams, and start companies.

All Startup Weekend events follow the same basic model: anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams organically form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and then it’s a 54 hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation. The weekends culminate with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders with another opportunity for critical feedback.
