What is the sharing economy?
Sharing economy generally refers to new modes of consumption that allow consumers to share products, equipment or services. We can also note a more or less strong commodification of sharing economy by sectors of activity in which the desire is no longer to optimize a mode of consumption but to generate income (Definitions-marketing, 2016). The theme of this 2017 edition - sharing economy, describes "a technology-driven return to pre-industrial markets where communities pool, lend and share resources through trusted networks (Government of Canada , 2015).

What is a Startup Weekend?
Startup Weekend is an entrepreneurial competition where participants have 54 hours to launch a viable business project which is then reviewed by industry professionals.

This event, now viewed as a projects accelerator, aims to offer participants a unique learning opportunity, based on action, innovation and education.

Startup Weekend starts on Friday evening, with the “pitch fire” and continues throughout the weekend, while participants build their projects, from business plan drafting to prototype conception. The event comes to an end on Sunday evening when the judges (experts and professionals) listen to the final presentations.

All teams hear talks by industry leaders and receive valuable feedback from local entrepreneurs. The weekend is centered around action, innovation, and education. Whether you are looking for feedback on an idea, a co-founder, specific skill sets, or a team to help you execute, Techstars Startup Weekends are the perfect environment in which to test your idea and take the first steps towards launching your own startup.
