Startup Weekend Auckland: Windows 8 Bootcamp
Friday, May 10, 2013 from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM (NZST)
Auckland, New Zealand
Microsoft New Zealand and Startup Weekend Auckland are joining forces to help developers and entrepreneurs become more successful!
We know that during a Startup Weekend event there isn't a lot of time to learn new things. You come in with the tools you have in your belt, and you do the best you can with those. But sometimes those tools aren't enough, which is why we're running this pre-Startup Weekend boot camp.
Come and get both a crash course and overview of Microsoft’s latest Operating System, Windows 8 along with Windows Phone 8 and Windows Azure (Microsoft's Cloud platform which may prove very useful during the weekend).
The boot camp is designed for both technical and non-technical audiences.
For the technically inclined, we’ll talk about some of the features that light up Windows 8, such as Live Tiles and Semantic Zoom.
For the non-technical folks, we’ll cover the business opportunities, global impact, and possibilities with a Windows 8 app in the Windows Store.

Tips for Being Successful at Startup Weekend
When & Where
Startup Weekend is a global grassroots movement of active and empowered entrepreneurs who are learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures. It is the largest community of passionate entrepreneurs with over a thousand past events in 110+ countries around the world.
The non-profit organization is in Seattle, Washington but Startup Weekend organizers and facilitators can be found in cities around the world. From Mongolia to South Africa to London to Brazil, people around the globe are coming together for weekend long workshops to pitch ideas, form teams, and start companies.
All Startup Weekend events follow the same basic model: anyone is welcome to pitch their startup idea and receive feedback from their peers. Teams organically form around the top ideas (as determined by popular vote) and then it’s a 54 hour frenzy of business model creation, coding, designing, and market validation. The weekends culminate with presentations in front of local entrepreneurial leaders with another opportunity for critical feedback.
Whether entrepreneurs found companies, find a co-founder, meet someone new, or learn a skill far outside their usual 9-to-5, everyone is guaranteed to leave the event better prepared to navigate the chaotic but fun world of startups. If you want to put yourself in the shoes of an entrepreneur, register now for the best weekend of your life!
