Dan Keoppel is Executive Director of Verizon Ventures, Verizon Communications’ venture investing program. Verizon Ventures makes direct investments in innovative startups that work with one of three major Verizon business units wireless, wireline, and enterprise services. Dan has lead the investments in Airborne, Networks in Motion, Thumbplay, Entropic Networks, Medio, Loopt, FlashNetworks, Veoh, Zoove, Cellfire, ConteXtream, CardStar, Videosurf, BugLabs, Aztek Networks, SkyFire, and ActionX .
Mr Keoppel has been with Verizon and its predecessor companies, Bell Atlantic and Nynex, for 15 years where he has held a variety of corporate development and merger & acquisition positions. Prior to Verizon, Mr. Keoppel worked at AT&T in their M&A group and at AT&T Ventures Corporation, and held various finance positions with Lucent (then AT&T) Consumer Products.
Dan has an undergraduate degree in psychology from Rutgers University and a MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He is based at the Verizon Center in Basking Ridge, NJ.
Charles Kemper is an experienced entrepreneur and seasoned investment professional. He is currently a Partner at Revel Partners, a New York based early-expansion stage venture capital group, and a General Partner & Co-Founder of Entrepreneurs Roundtable Accelerator, a leading NY-born seed stage fund & incubator program.
Previously, he was a Principal with Steelpoint Capital Partners, a growth-oriented private equity firm with offices in San Diego CA and New York NY. From 2004 to 2009, Steelpoint made various investments ranging from $5 and $30 million in leading venture-stage and middle market growth companies with a focus on digital media, software, communications, and consumer products.
Charles was actively involved in the firm’s investments in AdSpace Networks, Atempo, Boingo Wireless, The Chart Group, Imaginova, Internet Marketing Center, Jitterbug, PacStar Communications, PrivaSys, Promptu, SeaMobile, Snow Phipps Group, Tasti D-Lite, Topica, WMI Media Solutions, and WorkShare. He was a Member of the Board of Directors of Atempo, Internet Marketing Center, PacStar Communications, Promptu, and WMI Media Solutions, and a Board Observer at AdSpace Networks, Boingo Wireless, Genesis Today, Imaginova, Jitterbug, PrivaSys, SeaMobile, and Topica.
Lori S. Hoberman is the chair of the Emerging Companies / Venture Capital practice. Her practice emphasizes venture capital, private equity, and general corporate counseling for emerging as well as later stage and publicly traded companies in a broad range of industries, including mobile, software, biotechnology and life sciences, social networking, consumer products, cleantech, Internet search and advertising, gaming and other media. Ms. Hoberman also has significant experience in the structuring of, and tax planning for, domestic and offshore private equity funds. Prominent business and legal media outlets frequently interview Ms. Hoberman on issues relating to emerging companies and venture capital.
Angela is an educator, entrepreneur, and angel investor. She is passionate about education, and has started several companies in that space. Currently she is the Executive Director of Academic Integration at Columbia Business School and an Adjunct Assistant Professor teaching Strategy and Leadership courses. She also has 15 years of experience in marketing strategy, both as a product manager and as a consultant at McKinsey. Angela has a BA from UC Berkeley and an MBA from Columbia Business School.
For the last 25 years Jeff has been a designer, CEO, educator, consultant and investor. Jeff enjoys the creative process, both from an artistic and organizational perspective. Currently Jeff is bringing these divergent experiences together in order to help companies develop more conscious, purpose driven business models; and to help investors build societal as well as financial value. Jeff tries to bring right and left brain thinking to problem solving, business creation and investing ideas; hopefully asking better questions and using his expertise to make the lives of those around me more fulfilling and successful.
Bert Navarrete is an experienced investor and Co-Founder of Tigerlabs. Prior to Tigerlabs, Bert was a Co-Founder at a startup that built interactive sports applications for Connected TVs and second screen devices. Previously, Bert was responsible for M&A and venture investments at Internet Capital Group (ICG). Bert has made investments in early stage companies across a variety of technology sectors and has had broad operational and investment management responsibilities.
Prior to ICG, Bert was an Investment Partner at Mitsui & Co., where he led Mitsui’s New York Technology Investment Group. While at Mitsui, Bert was responsible for managing and executing venture and private equity investments and oversaw the group's overall investment strategy. Previously, Bert was VP of Technology Strategy and Business Development at Merrill Lynch Technology and also managed a strategic venture fund consisting of investments in the internet, media, and mobile sectors.
Bert has served on the board and was an advisor on several notable investments, including CapitalIQ (NYSE: MHP), The Wedding Channel (NASDAQ: KNOT), MyFamily.com (ancestry.com), and Synacor (NASDAQ: SYNC). Bert was also a founding member of Merrill Lynch’s first seed-stage venture fund.
