Entre is hosting a special event geared towards the growing community of D.C. entrepreneurs, artists, creators, and innovators. Join us as we build a community of startup enthusiast in the D.C. area. This event is taking place at Mindspace, a global boutique co-working space.

Our event brings people together to openly discuss and share ideas with like-minded individuals. We welcome entrepreneurs of all types, start-ups of all sizes, industries, and stages to join us in finding the inspiration, resources, and friends that will make them successful.

Whether our members are just beginning to build a company, or are years into their venture, we aim to refer to the best services available for helping them achieve their goals. We aim to work with sponsors and partners who share our vision in helping the start-up community grow and succeed.

Zakiya Mabery

Zakiya O. Mabery was born in Killeen Texas while her military father, mother and brother lived at Ft. Hood, TX. Zakiya majored in Mass Communications at Virginia State University (VSU) and completed her Bachelor Degree in Psychology from Park University, Ft. Myer Campus and her Master’s Degree in Leadership and Management from Webster University (Bolling, AFB).

She has worked for the Department of Defense in many capacities over the last decade. In 2012 she was afforded the chance to work in Germany for The United States Africa Command (AFRICOM).

Zakiya Mabery is an alumnus of two fortune 500 companies Deloitte, and Booz Allen Hamilton consulting firms. In addition, Zakiya has over 15 years of experience working in talent management, employee relations functions; including strategic planning. Provides exceptional leadership and management skills necessary to enhance an organization’s ability to provide a positive social change to itself, its customers and the populations they serve. She also has experience in process improvement, new process implementation, leadership development, diversity & inclusion and training implementation.

She is a sought out key note speaker and advice columnist for her advice on Diversity, Inclusion, EEO, Disability Inclusion, and Organizational Management.

As a change agent; her consulting firm B. Global Diversity and Inclusion Strategic Planning LLC was born July of 2015. Spring 2019 Zakiya became a published contributing author in her first book, “The Humans Behind The Resources.”

Zakiya is enthusiastic about influencing upper management (as well as employees) about diversity and inclusion by concentrating on organizational change i.e. strategic planning, succession planning and special initiative programs.

Jay Newton-Small is founder of MemoryWell, a national network of more than 700 writers who tell the life stories of seniors to help improve their care.Previously, Jay was Washington correspondent for TIME Magazine, where she remains a contributor. At TIME she covered politics as well as stories on five continents from conflicts in the Middle East to the earthquake in Haiti and the November 2015 Paris terror attacks. She has written nearly a dozen TIME cover stories and interviewed numerous heads of state, including Presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush.She authored the 2016 best-selling book, Broad Influence: How Women Are Changing the Way America Works.Before TIME, Jay was a reporter for Bloomberg News, where she covered the White House and politics.Jay received an M.S. in journalism from Columbia University and undergraduate degrees in International Relations and Art History from Tufts University. She is a 2017 Halcyon Incubator fellow, a 2016-2017 New America fellow and a 2015 Harvard Institute of Politics fellow. She is the 2016 winner of the prestigious Dirksen Award for congressional reporting and the 2016 Deadline Club award for community service reporting.
