Start Now! - Session 1: Working & Advocating - The Future for your Child
Start Now! is a learning group for parents and their middle and high school students with intellectual and developmental disabilities to prepare for transition and future employment.
Session 1 of a 7 part series, Working & Advocating – The Future For Your Child will consist of a panel of speakers, both self-advocates and their parents, answering questions about what has worked as they made the transition out of the school system into the world of employment and self-advocacy. The panel will address the entire group, then the groups will break out; self-advocates with students and parents with parents, for more direct and relatable Q&A.
Siblings are welcome and encouraged to participate, but childcare will not be available.
Future topics will include: Understanding the System, Developing Job Skills and Planning for the Future.
