The Math and Computer Science PhD council is proud to present the 'Start It Up' workshop. At this workshop we will learn some basic techniques which are required to go from an idea to a business plan. We have an exciting program planned in this event that includes:
- A representative of the Eindhoven Startups Foundations to talk to and interact with.
- An opportunity to meet and interact with like minded people from within and outside the department.
- An opportunity to work on your idea, or work with others on their idea.
- Free meal and drinks of course!
We are quite happy to announce that Victoria Martinez from the Eindhoven Startup Foundation will be running this workshop. Victoria, holds a Master's degree in Telecommunication Engineering and a second Master's degree in Marketing and Branding. She has been an entrepreneur since she founded her first company at the age of 16. Since then, she combined her studies with the development of several ventures in different countries of Europe.
Since 2013 she lives in Eindhoven where she has developed an ecosystem network called Eindhoven Startups that works as organisation for the startup community, organising events, helping with network and curating the ecosystem, at the same time she became an advisor for Neelie Kroes during her time at the lead of Startup Delta. She is the newly appointed Startup Officer since January 2016. In this position she works with different tech hubs at international level to develop programs between cities. As well, as working with Startup Delta and the new special envoy of Startup Delta, Constantijn van Oranje, to develop the lines of the action plan regarding corporates and startups. At regional and local level, she works with Brainport Development, economical agency of the region, and the City of Eindhoven as startup liaison between startups and programs.
At this workshop, we want YOU to work on YOUR ideas. There are some techniques that can be used to take an idea and convert it into a business plan. These techniques will be discussed in this workshop along with some of the pitfalls to be avoided during this process. We will also discuss some of the resources available from Eindhoven and the TU/e for entrepreneurs.
Don’t have an idea? Don’t worry! We will have some ideas for you to work on. You are also welcome to talk to the other people at the workshop and see what kind of ideas they have cooking. Entrepreneurship can be an incredibly rewarding collaborative experience. And we are quite confident that each one of you will have valuable skills to contribute towards other product ideas. And feel free to come up some toy ideas, e.g. a TU/e wide sandwich delivery service? We’d pay for that. Or to explore how some successful companies started in different fields. Or how to improve on existing ideas in your own field, e.g. I don’t like how expensive Textbooks are, maybe I should start a Textbook renting service...
