Wine List:
Native9, Pinot Noir, Rancho Ontiveros Vineyards, Santa Maria Valley, CA, 2017 ($65)
Tasting Notes:
In its youth, the wine from this vintage appears to be highly aromatic and nuanced with added structure for long term aging of 10 years or more. The delicate, old world nature of Pinot Noir shines through with classic character as if it were a wine from the Southern AOC's of Burgundy.
Louis Latour, Pommard Premier Cru, France, 2019
Tasting Notes:
Of a ruby color, our Pommard 2019 reveals a rich and complex nose with notes of cherry, licorice, nutmeg and undergrowth. Its round mouth with supple tannins presents a lot of finesse. This wine, today very flattering, will show all its potential in 4 to 5 years.
Domaine Serene, Pinot Noir, Evenstad Reserve, Willamette Valley, Oregon, 2018 ($100)
Tasting Notes:
The art of blending has been the hallmark of the Domaine Serene winemaking program for over 30 years. It is this artistry that has made ‘Evenstad Reserve’ our flagship wine and a benchmark for Oregon Pinot Noir since its first vintage in 1990.
A brilliant ruby red color, the 2018 Evenstad Reserve Pinot Noir expresses aromas of dried cherry, dark chocolate, and saddle leather on the nose. On the palate, ripples of composed tannins and savory characters of cherry tobacco, ground cloves, and allspice reveal themselves, leading to a finish of great concentration and acidity. This Pinot Noir is beautiful on release and will age gracefully in the cellar for years to come.
Lucia Vineyards, Soberanes Vineyard, Pinot Noir, Santa Lucia Highlands, 2019 ($75)
Tasting Notes:
Flowing form the bottle a shade of dark ruby, the 2019 Lucia Soberanes Vineyard Pinot Noir is a dazzling display of symmetry from this iconic site, with each component in perfect equilibrium. Juicy aromatics of ripe raspberry and red cherry are countered flawlessly with more elegant notes of Asian spice, wet earth, and hints of cedar. Native fermentations of each block, taking place in open-top tanks, are meticulously managed to achieve perfect extraction of flavor, color and tannin. This extra care rewards as incredibly pure flavors of ripe plum, fig jam, and dusty black cherry coat the palate, while velvety tannin is partnered with fresh, vibrant acidity. This wine will age and maintain this balance for years to come.
Talisman Wine, Adastra Vineyard Pinot Noir, Napa Valley, California, 2017 ($65)
Tasting Notes:
Such a rich, heady nose; cream soda, vanilla, blueberries, blackberries and a bit of Hungarian paprika. On the tongue it’s sexy and spicy and full of layers of flavors of tart cherry, baking spice, cranberry, mulberry, cedar, peach, licorice and ginger. The finish is soft and thick and rich and fabulous.
Benovia 'la Pommeraie' Pinot Noir, Russian River Valley, Sonoma County 2018 ($74)
Tasting Notes:
Luscious aromas of boysenberry, Santa Rosa plum and black cherry yield to concentrated cranberry and black fruit notes on the palate with a polished mouthfeel that is exceptionally balanced by ample acidity on the finish.
