Event description

Description

Join us for an evening of Stargazing at the reserve. After a 30 minute dusk walk to experience dusk falling on the reserve, we will join local astronomer Jonathan Shanklin for an evening learning about the sky at night. Jonathan is one of the world authorities on comets and has appeared on BBC's Stargazing Live. He was also one of the scientists that discovered the hole in the ozone layer. If it is clear, we will do some stargazing with special telescopes and binoculars. We will be able to admire the crescent moon and see several of the planets in the Solar System, including Jupiter and Saturn. If it is cloudy, Jonathan will do a talk in the visitor centre about the wonders of astronomy. Please bring a torch and insect repellent. This event is limited to 20 participants. Suitable for children aged 8 and above. Price includes entrance fee for non-members.
