Enjoy the night sky on this moonless summer evening at Edgewood County Park and Natural Preserve. Trained docents will point out stars and constellations from Inspiration Heights, one of the highest points in the park.
We’ll walk at a leisurely pace, with a cumulative elevation gain of around 400 feet, before we reach the summit. Except for a flat meadow at the top, we will be on trails at all times, but the track may be slightly uneven in places.
This 3-mile walk is geared to adults, but capable, attentive children 10 years and older are welcome if accompanied by an adult.
Wear sturdy shoes and bring warm clothing suitable to the weather. We also suggest you bring plastic to sit on and a flashlight with red filter or cellophane covering if you have it. You are welcome to bring a snack or dessert.
Meet at the Clarkia Trailhead on Canada Road. If you are coming along I-280, exit at Edgewood Road and head west toward the mountains. Turn left at Canada Road and continue under the freeway overpass. Park on the dirt strip on the freeway side of Canada Road just south of the I-280 onramp.
