In this 2 part course, students will have the opportunity to learn how to shoot star trail images individually and use a software to stitch them together.
On Friday, March 24th, class will meet at the Alki Beach Park Bath House at 7:45pm (consider arriving 15-20 min early to find parking and group and set up). As a class we will go over important settings, tools and tips to shoot star trail images, and why it is best to shoot a series of images as opposed to one long exposure. Students will be setting up cameras on tripods and using intervelometers or cable releases to shoot their star trails. Wide angle and large aperture lenses are ideal.
Some of the tools and techniques we will discuss will include focusing, importances of lens choices, ISO's, light pollution, digital noise and more. Students should have a good working knowledge of their camera, but all skill levels are welcome.
Please contact Glazers ahead of time if you would like borrow a tripod or need a cable release or wide angle lens.
This is weather dependent course and has the potential to be rescheduled due to rain or cloud cover.
Google Sky Maps can be a great app to pre-download on your phone to choose your composition.
The following Friday evening, March 31st we will meet back in the Glazers Camera Classroom (811 Republican St.) from 6:30pm to 8pm to review everyones images and learn how to use the program; StarStax. We will go over different options for processing your images. Starstax should already be installed on your computer; you can download the program for free here: http://www.markus-enzweiler.de/StarStaX/StarStaX.html#download
