Event description

Description

The Maillol museum is a hidden Parisian gem offering a permanent collection dedicated to the French painter and sculptor Aristide Maillol, in addition to exhibitions highlighting historically significant works.

In anticipation of its permanent home of the Kunsthaus in Zurich, the Maillol museum is currently exhibiting the Emil Bührle Collection masterpieces. Exhibited for the first time in France, this ensemble of French art--assembled between 1936 and 1956--is one of the most prestigious private collections in the world providing a panorama of French art including several art movements: works by the major Impressionists (Manet, Monet, Pissarro, Degas, Renoir, and Sisley) and post-Impressionist artists (Cézanne, Gauguin, Van Gogh, and Toulouse-Lautrec), works from the beginning of the twentieth century by the Nabis (Bonnard and Vuillard), the Fauves (Braque, Derain, and Vlaminck), and the École de Paris (Modigliani), and, lastly, the art of Picasso.

Please join Lisa Cirenza, a Stanford alumnus and accomplished international artist, as she provides insights on a selection of Art works, discussing artistic inspiration, processes, and the role of technological disruptions/opportunities with regards to the Impressionists and contemporary digital artists.

Meet at 10:00 am in front of the Maillol Museum at 61 rue de Grenelle.
