DSI teaches the art of standup comedy. Learn how to use your persona, build on a premise, develop a joke and generate punch lines until you find ones that really hit. Learn how to spin true stories and rock a routine that both engages and entertains your audience. How can you get the most mileage out of You?
No comedy or theater experience necessary.
Free show admission while enrolled.
Class runs for 2 hours each week with optional office hours after class as available.

Instructor: Andrew Aghapour
Andrew Aghapour has been performing, coaching, and teaching comedy at DSI since 2012, and has studied under Zach Ward, Kit FitzSimons, Jill Bernard, Charna Halpern, and Rich Talarico.
Andrew is the director of DSI's Comedy School and is currently on DSI's house team Stranger Danger and the monoscene team Lake House. He is also an award-winning storyteller who has been featured locally at the Monti and on Kevin Allison's RISK! podcast. He was the runner up in the 2016 Carolina's Funniest Comic competition, where he proudly came in second to a former student.
When he isn't teaching or performing comedy, Andrew is finishing a dissertation about religion and neuroscience at UNC Chapel Hill.
