Description

'Standing in the Gap - Exploring the role of the church in responding to Mental Health, Homelessness and Poverty'

This conference is an opportunity to discuss and hear about three significant issues of homelessness, mental health and poverty within the relatively affluent area of Wokingham Borough. We will be launching two pieces of research -one focusing on mental health and another on homelessness There will also be opportunities to discuss these issues in workshops during the day as well as space for reflection using the arts.

We also have the privilege of welcoming Martin Charlesworth as our keynote speaker. Martin leads Jubilee+ (www.jubilee-plus.org) which has a vision is to see the Church in the UK be a champion of the poor and a means to healthy communities across the nation. He has written two books, with his latest having been published in August 2017 called 'A Church for the Poor'.

This event is open to those with an interest in any of these subjects and how the local Christian community can respond effectively.

The event is free and a sandwich lunch will be provided. There is also a large free car park outside the church centre. Deadline to reserve places - Monday 27th November 2017.
