About this Event

Learn how to support someone with a mental health problem with Mental Health First Aid Training.

BECOME AN ACCREDITED MENTAL HEALTH FIRSTER AIDER (valid for 3 years)

You will learn to recognise signs of developing mental health problems, or mental health crisis and how best to respond using a practical, evidence-based action plan.

MHFA is a 12 hour course, run over 2 days.

This course can be used to meet some industry CPD, university requirements, and workplace mental health programs).

Research has shown that training in Mental Health First Aid results in better knowledge, attitudes and decreases the stigma around mental illness. Being trained in Mental Health First Aid will assist you in making a real difference to your community.

You will:

- Increase your knowledge of mental health issues

- Understand how mental ill-health impacts people's physical health, relationships, work or study.

- Know how to identify signs of mental ill-health.

- Know where to find resources and services

- Be able to encourage people to seek professional help early

- Help challenge the stigma associated with mental illness

- Have more confidence to help in mental health crisis

- Make a difference to someone that is living with a mental illness.

The course covers:• Depression• Anxiety and Panic Attacks• Suicidal Thoughts and Behaviours• Psychosis and crisis • Substance Use Problems• Non-Suicidal Self-Injury

Course Dates: Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th January
