Event description
Bible study taught by Dr. Linda Thomas, LSTC Chicago, utilizing Stand Your Ground: Black Bodies and the Justice of God, Kelly Brown Douglas

About this event

This study is an introduction to Womanist theology, a way of understanding God and the Bible from the experiences of Black women in the United States. We will discuss this theological movement's origins, its commitments to justice for Black women (as well as all persons who suffer oppression), and the relevance of Womanist theology in light of current turmoils in the United States. To help accomplish these goals, we will read Kelly Brown Douglas's text, Stand Your Ground: Black Bodies and the Justice of God, which explores the relationship between the murder of Trayvon Martin and the cross of Jesus Christ, amid the history of exploitation of Black bodies in the United States.
