Our inspiration…

ALS is a disease you hear little about until there is an ALS challenge or it affects you directly. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, ALS for short or also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, is an incurable progressive disease that affects nerves in your brain and spinal cord that control your muscles. As the muscles get weaker, it becomes harder to walk, talk, eat and eventually breathe. In 2012-2013, my husband’s younger brother Michael was diagnosed with ALS.

During this time, I watched my husband, Tim, and his family come together with amazing strength, love and support for Michael, his wife and their two young children. Shortly into his diagnosis, they moved to Troy from Maryland and he went from walking with a cane to a mobility chair. They soon needed a mobility van and a mass amount of medical equipment for their house and bathroom to make things easier for Michael, his wife, and caretakers.

My husband' s sister took months off from work, and Tim spent every free moment with Michael. Not long after his diagnosis, breathing and eating became much more difficult, even impossible at times.

I supported my husband and our family any way I could and we have participated in many ALS fundraisers over the years. We knew we wanted to give back to the center to help others, as they helped Michael and his family. Michael and all those affected by ALS are our inspiration for this evening; a light hearted evening, joined together to support ALS awareness.

With two young kids, and an amazing wife beside him, Michael passed away in July 2015 at the young age of 39.

We invite you to join us for our second annual "Stand Up to ALS" comedy night fundraiser for a special evening of fun, dinner, and prizes. Proceeds for this event go to St. Peter's ALS Regional Center of Albany, NY. Through your generous donations and support, the center helps to provide patients and families affected by ALS with special equipment, chairs, and other medical items they may need at no additional cost.

Cocktail hour 6:00- 7:00; Seated dinner and show to follow; Basket raffle and door prizes; Parking on site. Busniess/cocktail attire preferred. Donations can also be made the night of the event by cash/check/credit.

Thank you for your support.
