Event description

Description

Niti Dhingra, an actress, writer and stand-up comedian who has worked all over the world for the last 10 years is now running a stand-up comedy class for women!

Everyone is funny in their own way - this class aims to help you translate that onto stage and avoid many of the mistakes new comedians make. The course is very practical and at the end of our 4 weeks together, you will have a polished 3-5 mins that you can choose to perform at our graduation show takeover at Baba’s Open Mic (or you can choose to cheer your classmates on from the safety of the audience if you prefer - no pressure!).

What will you learn?

  • Where material comes from and how to write it

  • Practical writing exercises

  • How to deconstruct comedy by analysing and discussing current comedians and their jokes

  • The importance of editing and Rehearsal

  • Microphone and Performance Technique

  • How to stay connected to audiences and deal with heckling

  • How to find your voice on stage

  • How to deal with self-criticism

  • How to overcome stage fright

  • How to improve your public speaking skills and performance

This class is best suited to people who have never performed stand up comedy before, or for new comedians wanting to get a good grounding knowledge of how stand-up works.
