Stand Together for Maryland
Event Information
About this event
Maryland’s current mandate for renewable energy will require tens of thousands of acres of land set aside for the in-state solar facilities that must be built by 2028 in order to comply with state law. Where do we put this land- intensive energy generation? What will it cost Maryland ratepayers? Has Maryland done the work to understand the change in land use? Is there a planning blueprint that outlines the optimal siting of solar panels or will Marylanders see the state’s prime agricultural land industrialized and forests cleared to meet the 2028 deadline?
Please join us for presentations by Maryland residents and organizations with expertise in planning, farming, and land preservation to learn about the issue and the options for siting solar on a variety of surfaces that maximize benefits, minimize negative impacts, and avoid community conflict. The session will include a brief review of several solar applications in Maryland. A panel discussion will follow where questions from viewers will be welcome. Please tune in and join the effort. If you share our concerns please consider contacting us.
