STAND is proud to be hosting our Midwest Regional Conference on February 19, 2017 at the University of Chicago! The event will include a ~virtual reality~ film about the Rohingya Muslim minority group persecuted in Burma, as well as Salam Neighbor, a documentary about the experience of Syrian refugees living in Jordan's Za'atari refugee camp.
The event will host speakers and panel discussions led by a number of professionals and activists, including the creators of the Rohingya virtual reality film from the Nexus Fund, as well as Syrian activists here in Chicago representing Students Organize for Syria and Books Not Bombs. The event will provide ~free lunch,~ opportunities to speak to other students, activists, and professionals passionate about human rights and preventing mass-atrocities, and opportunities to take action on these pressing issues!
We would love to see you all at the conference!
The event is free, however, the #riseforrohingya campaign is collecting donations for the Youth Civic Leadership Camp in Burma! Please consider making a small donation to this cause as an “admission fee” to this event: https://www.crowdrise.com/RiseForRohingya
See you on February 19!
