Event description

Description

The Stalking presentation covers the basic definition of stalking (what kinds of behaviors comprise stalking), detailed examples of stalking (property damage, repeated phone calls, unwanted gifts, and more), warning signs that someone may eventually engage in stalking behavior, and factors that contribute to an individual's choice to stalk. The training also covers the various "kinds" of stalkers; there are multiple different kinds of stalkers, each with unique motivations for their behaviors, and each with unique strategies for how to achieve their motivations. We include the social, emotional, physical, and financial consequences of stalking for victims, and identify prevention and intervention strategies that individuals can use if they or a loved one is being stalked.

Women’s Advocates is a safe place where victims/survivors of all backgrounds and cultures can escape domestic violence and begin to heal. Today, Women’s Advocates provides shelter and services to an average of 50 women and children daily, helps dozens of callers to the crisis line daily, and educates students and professionals about domestic abuse prevention and services.

Reasonable Accommodation: Please notify the FEB at (612) 713-7200 or email Andria_Stegeman-Horwitz@ios.doi.gov if you have requested a reasonable accommodation from your agency.

**Lunch is on your own. This is a brown bag lunch style event.
