Description

Shared Prosperity Stakeholder Training in Collective Impact

Collective impact is a nationally-recognized approach that brings together actors across sectors to solve complex social issues. When released in 2013, the Shared Prosperity Philadelphia plan launched a city-wide collective impact effort uniting public, private, non-profit and resident stakeholders to address the problem of poverty in Philadelphia. The Mayor’s Office of Community Empowerment and Opportunity (CEO) serves as the “backbone”, or lead coordinating agency for the Shared Prosperity Philadelphia initiative.

As we enter the 4th year of the Shared Prosperity Philadelphia plan, we invite our stakeholders and partners to join us in a training session on collective impact at the May 2017 Roundtable. The roundtable will be facilitated by Scott Wheeler (Managing Director, Strategy Arts) and Elizabeth Guman, (Director, Strategy Arts), who will bring their expertise in planning and implementing collective impact initiatives. The training will cover the following:

(1) Overview of the core principles of Collective Impact and the current thinking of what's working and what's not in the practice of Collective Impact

(2) Review examples of Collective Impact initiatives from other cities that have been successful in establishing best practices

(3) Exploring the sometimes overlapping roles of work group member, work group leader (or co-chair) and backbone organization

(4) How to make participation in a Collective Impact initiative a strategic investment for your organization
