Stained Glass Flower Making with Local Artist MAC
Overview
Learn the basics of stained glass craft at this Valentine's Day workshop with local artist and stained glass educator MAC!
Using provided materials, you'll spend the afternoon creating at least 1 stained glass stem using an assortment of colorful glass scraps provided by MAC and The WasteShed. Through the creation of your glass flower, you'll be led through an introduction to stained glass skills. Topics covered include:
- Stained glass safety
- Cutting with hand tools
- Grinding with power grinder
- Foiling with copper foil
- Soldering with leaded solder
- Cleaning & caring for your stained glass
- Painting with enamel paints
The first part of class will be a demonstration by MAC, followed by independent workshop time. This is a great class for anybody who's interested in learning about stained glass and considering getting into the craft! It's also a fabulous Valentine's day date. About the teaching artist: MAC is a 3rd generation stained glass artist who has taught stained glass classes for the Rebuilding Exchange. MAC loves to make stained glass work that features nature and challenges the unique material qualities of stained glass. In other areas of their practice, MAC uses Graphic Design, 3D printing, Laser Cutting, Woodworking, CNC Milling, Moldmaking & Casting, and other fabrication techniques to create engaging objects and educational materials.
