Description

NWTC Service Days: St. Vincent de Paul

Organizational Information: The Society of St. Vincent de Paul offers tangible assistance to those in need on a person-to-person basis. It is this personalized involvement that makes the work of the Society unique. This aid may take the form of intervention, consultation, or often through direct dollar or in-kind service. An essential precept of the Society's work is to provide help while conscientiously maintaining the confidentiality and dignity of those who are served. The Society recognizes that it must assume, also, a role of advocacy for those who are defenseless or voiceless.

Opportunity Description: Students will be assigned to assist in the area in which the organization has the most need on the day of their service. Such projects might include general sorting, pricing, tagging, stocking shelves, cleaning, and straightening.

Details: Transportation is currently not available for this event. Registered participants will meet at St. Vincent de Paul East Thrift Store by 9:00 am. Upon arrival, check-in with the SLCE leader behind the check-out area of the store to receive service assignments.

Requirements: Service hours are allocated based on the amount of direct service participation and do not include meeting time and transportation to/from service site. Students can expect to receive 3 hours of service for this activity. Please dress in clothing appropriate for working, no risque or vulgar clothing.

Number of Volunteers Maximum: 10 students.
